Simple steps to help you prevent emotional eating!

Eating is a way of life. Food helps us get energy and nutrients, so very much vital for our body. Having a food is the basic survival act for us but at times, we tend to go overboard with it, which results in our body gaining excess weight. One such important time when we tend to eat excess is in times of distress.

Our life is full of ups and downs and it is natural for people to have happy days as well as bad days. During rough times, our mind is sad, which makes us feel the environment around us not to be good. We also feel our efforts at anything and everything yielding no good results making our body losing its strength and efficiency.
This makes our ego feel threatened for our existence and immediately triggers searching for good positive survival act.

Since eating is one such act, our ego forces us to have food, even though our body is not actually short of nutrients! Surrendering to our ego in such times and feasting on excess food, results in accumulation of those excess and useless fats.

If you have been putting on weight lately, it would be good to analyze the present condition of your life.
*Is your work place putting a lot of stress on your mind lately?
*Is everything alright at your financial and/or personal front?
*Did you face any traumatic incident in the very near past?

If you find yourself in any of the above situation and have suddenly realized the added problem of becoming overweight, look no further!
You are surely an emotional eater!

Now….on to the solution.

The first and most important step in trying to find a solution is to first acknowledge the fact there is indeed a problem in your life and that you need to find a better way out of it.
Take the help of a counselor if need be. They help you with various visualization relaxing techniques to help you find a better path for a happy mind.
Family can come to your instant rescue and any help from a member should readily be accepted to bring about happiness back in your life.
Turn to meditation and yoga as it is known to bring peace and harmony in the mind, making it all the more relaxed and well suited to help you take good decisions.

Remember, all this while that it is not your inherent desire for food that is making you over weight but it is the external circumstances which have overwhelmed your mind which is the main culprit.
Relaxing and taking control of your mind is the best way, to help you find new methods of solving your problems. This would eventually keep the food-craving mania away from you!!

How Negativism affects our Health.

In our search for a very healthy life, we have never bothered to appreciate the importance of our attitudes and moods on our physical health. A sad or depressed person is likely to be lot weaker and less healthy than the person who is cheerful and relaxed. A person who is much stressed is bound to leave a lot of negative effects on his physical health. Our body can cope with just a normal bit of negativity but when there is overdose of the same; our health begins to feel the desperation. These negative attitudes and moods can really play havoc and harm you from inside just as similar to a critical illness or disease. It affects our immunity making us more vulnerable to various dreadful attacks.

One typical thing is Depression. It has been noticed by professionals that people who fall prey to depression while ill are bound to recover very slowly and need longer time period to get fit. They even develop extra complications which further aggravate their problems. These people allow depression to govern them fully which in turn does not allow their body to heal quickly and thus turn everything against their will to live. Research has established the fact that people who get depressed after a heart attack are more prone to death roughly six months after the attack. Such people need urgent attention for medication and vital mental support.

Another major problem is that of loneliness. People living a lonely life and who do not socialize at all, are subjected to face the stress and struggle all….on their own. Friends and family support play a vital role in making things smoother than it appears and thereby helps in dealing with them more appropriately. We all need strong shoulders for support and good friendly ears to talk to; in our times of trouble….Talking to the dear ones about the problems helps us lighter the weight of our grief and depression. It is also better for lending our ears to other’s problems as well…since it helps you become compassionate and make you realize that our problems are not that big when compared to others.

To make matters worse, we all are living in trying times and whether we acknowledge it or not, our everyday life is full of stress dealing with heavy noises, very crowded places and tough competition from sub-ordinates. Rising expenses and bills add to our agony. In order to meet such costs, we take on high-salaried jobs that come with longer working periods. This further robs us of our vital relaxing time. Before we realize it, this continuous stressful environment plays havoc with our health, really bad and that too, very quickly.

In order to cope with such problems, it is important that you maintain some moderation and bring about little alteration in one’s lifestyle. It would be beneficial if you can reduce the intake of alcohol and coffee as well. Quit the habit of smoking completely…..or at least reduce the frequency……Instead of sitting in front of the television set, do take a half an hour walk outside. Develop the habit of listening to the music of your choice since it is known to be very good for mental relaxation. Do things that help you take your mind off the grief and troubles, like playing with children or reading a good book.Play with children

Always keep in mind that you are not a machine and there are excellent things which one needs to do to enjoy, and to live gracefully…
